Michael R. Boutcher, 67, of Burlington, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2024 at his home.
Born in Chicago, on July 29, 1957, Mike was the son of Edward and Mary Lou (nee Savary) Boutcher. His early life was spent in Hammond, Indiana, where he graduated from Morton Senior High School. On May 13, 1993 in South Bend, Indiana, he was united in marriage to Suzanne Schmidt. Following marriage, they made Burlington their home. He was a resident of Burlington for 31 years. Mike served on the USS Coral Sea and USS Guardfish as a nuclear submarine propulsion plant operator during the end of the Vietnam War.
Mike worked as an electrical engineer for ComEd/Exelon of Illinois. He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Bulls and Bears fan and enjoyed maintaining his yard and gardening. He cherished family life and worked hard to provide for his family. He enjoyed close relationships with his siblings and traveling to visit them with his family. He loved all the family pets – Moose, Shadow, JJ, Brownie, Max and Ruby.
Mike is survived by his wife, Suzanne; mother, Mary Lou Boutcher; children, Christopher (Leah) Boutcher, Aaron (Sarah) Boutcher, Emily (Eliott) Wucherer, Steven (Samantha) Boutcher and Benjamin Boutcher; grandchildren, Miles, Charlotte and Micah Boutcher, and Winnie Boutcher; siblings, Kathleen Jackson, Joseph (Michelle) Boutcher, David (Atsuko) Boutcher, Barbara (Robert) Rose, Patricia Henry, and James (Coralie) Boutcher; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Boutcher; brother, Thomas Boutcher; nephew, Kyle Jackson; mother-in-law, Diana Schmidt and former spouse, Terri Boutcher.
The family would like to thank the City of Burlington Police and EMT staff, and the Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home staff for their assistance during this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Assoc., Alzheimer’s Assoc., American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Assoc. or to the family.
Services for Mike will be held Monday, Dec. 2, 2024 at Noon at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until Noon at the funeral home. Light refreshments will be offered.
