NANCY LOUISE CARROLL

Nancy Carroll, loving mother, grandmother and wonderful friend, passed away at her winter residence in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Nov. 21, 2024, at the age of 87.

Nancy was born in Burlington, on April 30, 1937, the eldest child of Carl and Marie (Kornhoff) Robers. After graduating from St. Mary’s High School in 1955, Nancy matriculated to St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Madison and earned her degree in Public Health from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1959. From there, she began her nursing career in Milwaukee.

While residing in Milwaukee, Nancy was introduced to Robert “Bob” Carroll on a blind date in 1964. Nancy and Bob went on to marry in 1967, and had two children, Charles “Chuck,” born in June 1969 and now residing in Scottsdale and Dianne, born in August 1970 and now residing in Johnstown, Ohio.

Nancy and Bob moved to Madison in 1973. In addition to managing their household, Nancy was active in many Madison organizations, including St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, various schools, and Ronald McDonald House Charities. She was also a member and beloved sister of Chapter BC of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO), which supports educational opportunities for women. While she enjoyed crafts, card games, baking, reading and travel, Nancy’s love and care for her family and friends was steadfast, and she cherished those relationships.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and by Bob, who died in 1992. She is mourned and celebrated by her children, Chuck (Michele) Caroll and Dianne (David) Pontia; her beloved grandchildren, Brody Carroll and Margot Pontia; brother, Charles (Kay) Robers of Waukesha; sister, Carol (Ronald) of New Berlin, and sister, Mary (Dan) of Austin, Texas.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison, at Noon on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025.
