Ronald Francis Yambor, 76, of Burlington passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2024 following heart surgery and a lengthy hospital stay.
Ron was born on Oct. 3, 1948 to Francis and Marion (nee Hopkins) Yambor. A lifelong resident of Burlington, he attended St. Charles Grade School and Burlington High School. It was in high school that he met the love of his life, Mary Lee Eisenbart. He knew she was the one when she was willing to rebuild the engine of his ’64 Chevy Impala alongside him. On Aug. 17, 1968, they were joined in marriage at St Mary Catholic Church. Always at each other’s side, they journeyed through life together, raised three children, and were married for 51 years before she preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 2019.
After high school, Ron’s love of cars led him to work at Rambler Garage, Waterford Ford, and as a mechanic at Cunningham Buick and Oldsmobile. Following, he worked at JW Peters for 30 years as a prestress laborer and proud member of the Teamsters Local 43. He retired in 2001. It was at JW Peters that he met some of his closest friends that he would cherish long past retirement and up until his passing.
Ron enjoyed woodworking, automotives, and collecting tools. If anything needed to be fixed, it was guaranteed that he had the tool for the repair. And if not, a new one would suddenly appear in his collection to get the job done. Together, he and Mary would create projects with he being the carpenter and she taking care of the design and painting. They enjoyed their trips to Las Vegas, gambling and people-watching. When at home, they filled their days shopping, checking out estate sales, visiting different restaurants, and enjoying time at their grandchildren’s countless activities.
Ron is survived by his children, Barbara Ann Burmeister, Scott (Tammy) Yambor, and Michelle (Bernard) Petersen; grandchildren, Dustin (Marimar), Ashley, Casey (Dora), Maddie, Kelsey, Finn and Maeve; older sister, Carol Binning; younger brother, Larry (Judy) Yambor; sisters-in-law Marge (Bob) Oehlke and Patricia (Dave) Dake; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
