THOMAS PAUL MACK

Thomas Paul Mack, 64, of Burlington, went home to his Lord and Savior on Oct. 9, 2024, after a long and brave battle with Leukemia at his home near Brown’s Lake.

Born Dec. 25, 1959, to Robert and Valora (Bellis) Mack, Tom spent his early childhood in Chicago, before moving to Burlington to form lifelong friendships and continue his love for watersports, animals, and the automotive field. Growing up on Brown’s Lake, he enjoyed swimming, skiing, and fishing with friends and family. After graduating from Burlington High School in 1978, Tom went on to work with his dad and brother as an auto mechanic and stock car racer. He married Jill T. Olsen in 1985 and was blessed with two loving children. After the passing of both Robert and Mike R. Mack, Tom took ownership of the family business, Mack’s Garage, in 1993. The Mack family business proudly served the Burlington community with exceptional customer care for close to 35 years.

Tom was known not only for his skills as a mechanic but also for his well-intended nature and love of a good time. His sense of humor and welcoming spirit made him the life of the party as his friends often joked “if Tom was there, you knew you were in for a great time”. He carried that same joy into all aspects of his life, spreading laughter and warmth wherever he went.

Tom was a devout Christian, caring father and grandfather, as well as a motorcycle and auto enthusiast. Later in life, he spent much of his free time working on his Harley and spending time with his loving girlfriend, Laurel Streich. They enjoyed life’s quieter gifts including cooking and relaxing at home. In the last few years, Tom was blessed with three beautiful granddaughters, Grace, Sutton, and Olivia. His smile was never brighter nor laughter quite as true as when he got to spend time with them.

Thomas is survived by his daughter, Hayley (Brian) Gibbon with granddaughter Grace Gibbon; his son, Michael T. (Abigail) Mack with granddaughters Sutton and Olivia Mack; his sister Michele (David) Vander Heyden; sister-in-law, Sharon (Michael R.) Mack; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and loved ones. He was preceded in death by parents Robert and Valora Mack, and brother, Michael R. (Sharon) Mack.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Oct. 25, 2024, at Integrity Celebration Center, 2789 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. A time of gathering will begin at 4 p.m. until time of a short prayer and words by loved ones at 6 p.m.
