Elizabeth A. Rysdam, 85, of Burlington, passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2025 at her home.
Born in Davis County, Iowa on July 31, 1939, Elizabeth was the daughter of Elmer and Eula (nee Pearsall) Humphrey. Her early life was spent in Iowa, where she attended Oak Hill School, Troy High School and Teacher’s College in Kirkville, Missouri in which she earned a Certificate in Stenography. On May 25, 1958, in Troy, Iowa she was united in marriage to William Rysdam. Following marriage, they lived in Dysart and Ottumwa, Iowa before moving to Kansasville. She was a Burlington resident since 1968.
Elizabeth worked as a teacher’s aide for Waller School and other area schools. She also worked at White Fox Den from 1984 until 2004 as a waitress. She was a former member of Burlington United Methodist Church, worked with the lady’s group at church. She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. She was an excellent seamstress who loved to sew, crochet and do needlework. She enjoyed cooking, baking, cake decorating and raising her family.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, William; children, Victor (Tammie) Rysdam and Melissa (Mark) Kelnhofer; son-in-law, Kevin Kerr; grandchildren, Melissa (Brian) Duncan, Samuel (Brittany) Rysdam, Leah Rysdam, Jordan Kelnhofer, Joshua (Ellen) Kelnhofer, Benjamin Kerr, Ethan (Casey Mullett) Kerr and Mariah (Nick) Olsen; and great-grandchildren, Christopher, Lily, Scarlett, Audrey, William, Kurt, Jacob, Brett and Hardin. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Marcia Kerr; and siblings, Irene (Lowell) Jackson, Ruth (Creighton) Vandegriff, Doris (Woody) Walker, Robert (Eva) Humphrey, Wayne (Evelyn) Humphrey and Dean (Bernice) Humphrey.
The family would like to thank the Aurora at Home Hospice nurses, chaplain and staff, along with Becky Lois for all their loving care and compassion.
Visitation and Services for Elizabeth were held Monday, February 10, 2025 at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Burial followed at Burlington Cemetery.
