Erwin R. (Bud) Vorpagel, of Pardeeville and formerly Burlington, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025 peacefully in his sleep. Born in Milwaukee on June 13, 1936, he was the son of Harry and Lillian (Zarnstorff) Vorpagel. His early life was spent in Genoa City. He attended Bloomfield area grade schools and graduated from Lake Geneva High School. On Dec. 11, 1981 he was united in marriage to the love of his life Carol (Linneman) Miller. They shared 43 wonderful years together.
Bud started working for his dad on the family farm. He served in the United States Army for two years. After returning from the army, Bud bought his own livestock truck, which held 25 cows. He was also the Bloomfield Fire Chief during this time for many years. He later sold out to Stowells Trucking and started working for them for many years, hauling everything from cows to Nestle chocolate. Bud semi-retired from Stowells in 1995 and continued working part time delivering the Hi-Liter and Saturday Marketplace newspapers for 17 years. After finally retiring in 2016 Bud moved to Pardeeville to actually retire. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially mowing the lawn, gardening, and watching the birds. He also enjoyed going for rides on the back-country roads, windshield farming and watching the Amish. But most importantly he loved being with his family.
Bud is survived by his wife Carol; children Kim Lynch, Penny (Rick) Naber, Randy Vorpagel, Kevin (Lisa) Miller, Jim (Erika) Miller and Sara (Jerod) Roberg; 15 grandchildren; 24 great children with one on the way; many nieces and nephews; along with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joanne Cramer, brother-in-law William Cramer, in-laws Anthony and Helen Linneman, and niece Jody Costello.
Services for Bud will be on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. at Daniels Funeral Home in Burlington. Friends and relatives may visit with the family from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
The family would like to thank the staff at Randolph Health Services for their care and compassion, along with Rainbow Hospice.
