JOHN F. BARTUSKA

      John F. Bartuska, 80, from Burlington and late of Kenosha, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025, at his home with family at his side.

He was born March 13, 1944, in Chicago, the son of the late Frank and Margaret (Viskocil) Bartuska.

In his younger years, John was an avid hunter and fisherman. Throughout his life, he took part in many adventures. He was a member of the Janesville HOG Chapter, Road Captain for the Muscular Dystrophy Association for over 13 years. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Silver Lake Fire Department, and member of the Antioch Moose Lodge #525. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and gardening. Before his retirement, John worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of IUOE Local #150.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Ruth (McWhorter); his son, Frank (Lisa Lazzare) Bartuska; stepchildren, Kimberly Bentley and Jason (Susan) Bentley; grandchildren, Emile, Reagan, John, Cole, Simon, and Liam; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by sisters, Lucille (William) Scheppe and Mary Ann, in infancy; and a daughter, Melissa Kuranz.

Services were held on Feb. 20, 2025, at Proko Funeral Home. Private interment was in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, in his memory.
