KAY ELLEN JOHNSON

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kay Ellen Johnson, who left us on March 24, 2025, at the age of 79. Beloved by many, Kay was a cherished mom, grandma, aunt, cousin, and friend. Born on Jan. 5, 1946, the daughter of Bert and Geraldine “Sis” Eisenhut, she grew up in Racine, celebrating her Horlick High School 60th class reunion last fall with many great friends and classmates.

Kay found great enjoyment spending time with her many friends and family, especially card and dice games. Yahtzee, MahJong, Bunco, Cribbage, and Euchre were some of her favorites. A true sports fan, she loved watching the Packers and her kids and grandkids participating in sports.

Kay is survived by her children Wendy (Ted) Cain, Jennifer (John) Kolp, and Dennis (Marcy) Johnson; grandchildren Terry Cain, Maggie Cain, Jennell Kolp, Austin Johnson, and Hadley Johnson; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She always had a smile we will never forget.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents, sister Karen Lofquist, niece Julie Nelson, and loving granddaughter Jacque Kolp.

Kay’s family would like to extend a very special thank you for the love and care from the staff at Aurora Home Healthcare, Hospice, and all the kindhearted people who recently called and visited.

A celebration of Kay’s life will be held on April 11, 2025, at Integrity Celebration Center, 2789 Brown’s Lake Dr., Burlington. An open house visitation will take place from 5 p.m. until time of service at 6:20 p.m. Friends and family are invited to come together to share memories, offer condolences, and commemorate a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the family for a memorial at Racine’s Wind Point Lighthouse in Kay’s memory.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
