LORAINE ZINNEN

      Loraine Zinnen passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025.

Loraine was born in Burlington on June 8, 1927. She is the daughter of Henry and Eleanor (Prailes) Seubert. She was educated at St Mary’s Grade School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School (Catholic Central High School) Class of 1945.

On Dec. 29, 1948 she married John E. Zinnen at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Burlington. Following John’s Air Force Service, in 1954 they moved to the east shore of Eagle Lake in Kansasville. John and Loraine celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1998. John died in July 2002 and Loraine continued to live in the home they built on Eagle Lake until January of 2025.

Loraine was employed as an Executive Secretary in Racine for many years. She worked at Oster Avionic Division, Dominican College of Racine and retired from Twin Disc Inc. Loraine was very active in community affairs and served as the Secretary/ Treasurer of the Eagle Lake Property Owners for over 30 years. She served on the Parish Council at St. Mary of the Assumption in Kansasville and was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. She was very active in the Republican Women. She enjoyed playing games and cards, especially Sheepshead. Loraine was a talented seamstress. She made her wedding dress and all of her bridesmaid’s dresses. She completed many beautiful needle works that were hung throughout their home or gifted to family and friends.

Loraine is survived by nieces and nephews, Margaret (Jerry) Baldukas, Laurie (Greg) Jeffers, Nance (Frank) Wyatt, Leo (Connie) Zinnen, Rick (Amy) Zinnen, Beth (Kevin) Hokanson, Karen (Paul) Willich, Tom (Sherry) Wiemer and Mark Wiemer; great nieces and great nephews; dear friends, Mary Akgulian, Ann DeBrabander, and Connie Mallwitz; and wonderful neighbors, Mark and Mary Hansen, and Bob Blakeman. Loraine was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, her brother John Seubert, her sister Loretta Rieck and her nephew David Wiemer.

A Mass and Celebration of Loraine’s Life will be held at St Mary of the Assumption, 23209 Church Road, Kansasville, on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 11 a.m.

Friends are welcome to come before Mass for visitation at church starting at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Mary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption in Kansasville, Catholic Central High School in Burlington or the charity of your choice.
