While Lake Geneva Badger may have won the most individual titles at the Southern Lakes Conference girls tennis tournament, the Union Grove Broncos had the depth.
The end result? A tie – both for the SLC tournament crown and in the overall SLC standings.
Union Grove finished with all but one entry in the top three in their respective brackets Monday – two days after rain postponed the final day of the conference meet.
Leading the way for Union Grove was the No. 2 doubles team of Kendall Reuber and Alyssa Leffler, which won the title 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 over Westosha Central’s Emily Green and Danielle Tesar.
The Broncos had three other entrants in championship matches. Miranda Dam and Juli Luenburg came up shot at No. 3 doubles, while Jessica DeGroot lost to Badger’s Cricket Gelderman in the No. 1 singles final.
Finally, at No. 3 singles, Jenna Oliver played Joanie Williams of Badger in the final, but fell in straight sets.
Union Grove also had a pair of third-place finishes from Lauren Tuma at No. 2 singles and Madison March at No. 4 singles.
Union Grove’s final entrant, Megan Larson and Dana Bauer at No. 1 doubles, finished fourth.
The Broncos will play at the Westosha Central Subsectional Monday at Racine Case High School beginning at 8:30 a.m.
