With their third consecutive win over a Southern Lakes Conference opponent – a 4-3 victory over Wilmot Tuesday – the Burlington High School girls tennis team has evened its SLC record at 3-3.

“The kids have done well,” head coach Rose Dolatowski said. “I’m real pleased with where we’re at right now.”

Overall, the squad stands at 9-11.

All three doubles teams won their matches, with the final Demon victory coming at No. 2 singles.

Lydia Crabtree and Sierra Koenen, at No.1 doubles, captured a 6-3, 6-2 win.

“Lydia and Sierra are undefeated in conference,” head coach Rose Dolatowski said.

At No. 2 doubles, Paige Puntillo and Laura Christoph had little trouble in a 6-0, 6-2 victory; and at No. 3 doubles, Rosie Uhen and Kayla Ludwig finished off the doubles sweep with a 6-4, 6-3 win.

Needing just one victory in singles action, Burlington got it from Sophie Grandi at No. 2. Grandi did not lose a single game in her 6-0, 6-0 win.

“She’s a little bit happier not being in the (No.) 1 spot,” Dolatowski said. “She’s finding her groove.”

Ali Zeman (No. 1 singles), Haley Jurecki (No. 3 singles) and Courtney Wieners (No. 4) all lost in straight sets.

Dolatowski noted that Coral Miller is out for a week with an injured wrist, and Olivia Leuck was injured in a car accident, but expects to practice this week.

The Demon girls earned their first SLC win of the season in a 5-2 decision over Westosha Central at Paddock Lake Sept. 6.

Burlington won three of the four singles matches, and two of the three doubles brackets.

In singles, Leuck won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2; Grandi had an easy 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3; and Miller won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4.

In doubles action, Crabtree and Koenen improved to 14-7 overall with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1.

Uhen and Ludwig had a tough first set, winning 7-6(3), but then pulled away in the second set 6-2.

Burlington almost got a sixth win at No. 2 doubles, where Puntillo and Christoph lost the first set 6-2, but came back to win the second set 7-5. They could not keep their momentum, though, a lost a close third set 6-4.

The other match loss came at No. 1 singles, where Zeman lost 6-2, 6-1.

The Demon girls got their second SLC win at Elkhorn Monday, also by a 5-2 score.

Zeman, Grandi and Courtney Wieners (No. 4 singles) all won, while Crabtree/Koenen and Puntillo/Christoph won in doubles action.

Zeman earned a hard-fought three-set win at No. 1 singles, winning the first set 6-4, losing the second set 7-5, but coming back to take the third set 6-2.

Grandi won fairly easily at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-3; with Wieners getting an easy 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4.

Crabtree and Koenen continued their strong play with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph; while Puntillo and Christoph earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles.

At No. 3 singles, Haley Jurecki lost a three-set match, winning the second set 6-0, but losing the other two sets 6-4, 6-3.

Uhen and Ludwig lost 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.
