The Burlington High School boys basketball team couldn’t stand prosperity Tuesday night.
Leading by 20 points at one point in the third quarter, the Demons got cold in the fourth, and had to hang on for a 48-41 win over Westosha Central to open Southern Lakes Conference play.
“It was one of those nights where we played really well in spurts, and really poorly at times,” said BHS coach Steve Berezowitz, whose team is now 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the SLC.
Ty Dennis paced BHS with 13 points and six rebounds, while Carson Biedrzycki added 10 points and six rebounds. Jake Reetz finished with eight points and Jimmy Penzel seven for the Demons.
Tyler Stoxen led Westosha with 21 points.
On Friday, the Demons fell 48-45 to Milwaukee South in the Terry Porter Classic.
Biedrzycki led BHS with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Ben Geiger added 10 points and Penzel eight.
