A relentless running game by Badger and squandered chances by the Demons were too much for the Burlington High School football team to overcome Friday night, as BHS lost 33-12.
BHS was within 7-6 at the half and still 14-12 midway through the third quarter, but Badger reeled off 19 unanswered points behind its powerhouse rushing game. Quarterback Peter Krien and fullback Robert Johnson did a lot of the damage for the Badgers, and BHS could not find any consistent offense.
The Demons’ two touchdowns came on a 79-yard throw to Chad Redmer and a 70-yard toss to Ty Dennis.
Both teams are now 1-1 overall, with Badger at 1-0 in the Southern Lakes Conference and BHS 0-1.
In other games Friday night, Catholic Central fell 31-7 at Ozaukee. The Hilltoppers were kept off the board until the fourth quarter, trailing 21-0 going into the final period.
Final scores for Union Grove at Westosha Central and Waterford at Wilmot are still pending.
In action Thursday, the Burlington co-op swim team finished third at the Southern Lakes Conference relays meet. Burlington posted a new SLC record in the 500-yard crescendo relay.
