The Catholic Central High School girls volleyball team overcame a slow start at its Topper Invite Saturday, rallying to sweep its opponents.
The Lady ’Toppers won the five-team invite, with Fort Atkinson finished second, Franklin and Waterford tied for third and Williams Bay fifth.
Catholic Central struggled out of the blocks, dropping its first game against Williams Bay before pulling out the three-set win 21-25, 25-17, 15-1.
“By the middle of the second game, we found a rhythm and didn’t look back the rest of the day,” said coach MaeMae Oberhofer.
The Lady ’Toppers followed with a 25-16, 25-18 win over Fort Atkinson, then beat Waterford 25-10, 25-12 and Franklin 25-16, 25-13.
Oberhofer said that her squad had a goal of being a good “first-contact team,” and did well with its serving game.
As a team, the Lady ’Toppers finished with 33 aces and served 95 percent for the tournament.
