8:52 p.m. – BHS will play Menomonee Falls in tomorrow night’s state semifinals at 7 p.m.

8:32 p.m. – Some basic comments from Dan Lynch. He thought the team came out a little nervous in set one, but settled down nicely for the win. He also gave a shout-out to the BHS boys.

8:30 p.m. – And the news is out! The BHS boys win in four sets to advance to state for the first time since 2006. You could see the news hit first the BHS student section, and then the girls team – who started cheering in response! B-town volleyball, indeed!

8:24 p.m. BHS girls sweep De Pere with a win in set three 25-17.

8:20 p.m. – BHS up 22-15 in set three, and De Pere just called its last time out.

8:05 p.m. – Case trying to make a match of it in the boys sectional final, winning game three 25-17.

8:03 p.m. – Umm, yeah. That was quick. Set two to BHS 25-8, a combination of BHS dominance and De Pere, frankly, unable to pass or hit the ball. Four of De Pere’s eight points came off BHS errors in the set.

8:00 p.m. – BHS picking apart De Pere right now, up 18-7 in set two.

7:48 p.m. – Talk about momentum swings. Burlington wins 12 of the last 15 points of the set to take the first set 25-18.

7:45 p.m. – And now it’s a De Pere timeout, as BHS has won eight of the last 10 points and leads 21-17.

7:44 p.m. – BHS boys win the second game 25-12, at boys sectional final.

7:42 p.m. – We have our first timeout, from Burlington as the Demons trail 15-13 following a string of two errors. BHS is playing solid, but so is De Pere.

7:27 p.m. – Starters from all four teams are now being announced. We’re a few minutes away from play.

7:22 p.m. – Just got an update from the BHS boys match – the sectional semifinal at Westosha Central against Racine Case. BHS won the first set, 25-14.

7:15 p.m. – We are in the middle of warm-ups now for the final two Division 1 quarterfinals. Burlington is facing off against De Pere, while on the other court, Sun Prairie is playing Menomonee Falls.

An interesting side note on the Sun Prairie vs. Menomonee Falls match: one of the assistants with Sun Prairie is Janelle Richard (formerly Tomlinson), a former All-State player from Marshfield High School, a UW-Green Bay player who led the Phoenix to an NCAA berth as a senior, and a former pro player in Europe.

6:46 p.m. – Good evening, folks. We are officially online here at the Resch Center in Green Bay. In the two afternoon quarterfinals, Divine Savior Holy Angels beat Neenah in four sets, while Muskego lost to Merrill.

DHSA downed Neenah 23-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-13, while Merrill upended Muskego 25-22, 20-25, 25-23, 25-20. In the Muskego match, Mary O’Connor led the Warriors with 16 kills, while Kayla Bluemel and Lauren Kudronowicz each added 10. Michelle Fugarino finished with a team-best 16 kills.
