Co-Female Athletes of the Week
Alice Fitzpatrick, Union Grove Union High School softball: Fitzpatrick scored the run that tied the game April 3 against Wilmot, but also had another outstanding pitching performance.
Fitzpatrick struck out eight and walked four in Union Grove’s 3-1 win over Wilmot last week. The senior scored after a leadoff walk in the seventh inning, one of three runs for the Broncos’ in the top of the seventh at Wilmot.
Alecia Faber, Union Grove Union High School softball: Faber scored the winning run of Union Grove’s 3-1 victory over the Panthers, and was one of just three players in the same position as last year for the defending Division 2 state champions.
Faber was solid behind the plate for the Broncos, and scored the game-winner on a hard single by Sarah Petrovic.

Number of the Week
4 – The number of area schools on spring break this week. Sports action has been limited as a result, with only a handful of athletic contests scheduled. Waterford’s softball team is in Florida for its annual spring break trip.
Coed Senior Softball
A 55-year-old-plus coed softball league is being formed in Burlington.
Games will be played Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. from mid-May through August at Congress Street Diamond in Burlington.

Trapshooting
Three weeks of competition are in the books for the 2012 SE WI SCTP Youth Trapshooting Conference. Once again cool temperatures and breezy April evenings held scores down as none of the twelve teams broke the 120 mark this week.
The Burlington Demons hold the conference top spot as the defending SCTP National Champions were able to sneek past rival Wilmot with a 118 to 118 tie.
Burlington had a higher reverse score (total number of birds hit from last miss) to win the tiebreaker. Between the two teams seven varsity shooters broke 24’s.
Westosha Central also stayed undefeated and sit right behind the Demons fighting for the top spot at 3-0 by downing Cudahy 106-93. Kyle Brewer and Joe Glas led the Falcons with a pair of 23’s.
Union Grove posted the high score of the week in downing Muskego 119 to 94. Ryan Maier led the Broncos charge with a perfect 25 to move to 2-1.
Milwaukee Marquette traveled to Waterford and scored the weeks second tie with the teams both posting 114 scores. The Wolverines got the nod on longest reverse score to take the victory from the Hilltoppers moving to 2-1 on the season. Nick Kinateder topped the scores with a 24.
RJ Klade posted a 25 to push Lake Geneva Badger past the virtual score of 108 (average of other varsity teams) giving the Badgers a notch in the win column.
Racine Lutheran dropped to 1-2 on the season after coming up short against the virtual score.
Winners in Junior Varsity were Jefferson, Wilmot, Waterford and Union Grove. The Bronco’s Cole Sterk posted the lone 25 for JV this week.
Honored
Burlington/Badger/Wilmot gymnasts Molly Benavides and Bailey Fitzpatrick were honored by the Burlington Area School board Monday evening for their state gymnastics individual titles.
Benavides won the Division 1 balance beam title, while Fitzpatrick claimed the uneven bars and all-around title.
