Behind a solid performance by senior Emily Powers, and its pairing of Madison Corey and Maddie Spaight, the Waterford High School girls golf team finished seventh out of 20 teams at the 13th Annual Brian Schroeder Memorial golf event held at Wanaki Golf Course in Menomonee Falls Monday.
Powers was ninth among the individual golfers, carding an 89 on the par-70 course. She had a 46 on the front nine and a 43 on the back nine.
In this event, each team enters two athletes in the individual competition, plus one best ball pair, and one scramble pair.
The other Wolverine individual golfer was sophomore Breanna Bertschlinger, who shot a 97.
The scramble pairing of Corey, a senior, and Spaight, a freshman, shot an excellent 87, to place fifth in the category.
Senior Samantha Mamerow and junior Leilyn Nowaczynski paired up for a 95 in the best ball.
Overall, Waterford’s team score was a 368. The Prairie School won the event shooting a 315.
On Aug. 15, the Wolverine girls finished fourth out of eight teams at the Westosha Central Invite held at Hawk’s View Golf Course.
Waterford carded a 327 team total on the par-3 Barn Hollow course.
