After winning the Falcon Invitational Saturday, the Waterford High School boys golf team faced some stiff competition Monday at the Geneva National Invite. The result was a fourth-place finish out of 21 teams.
Verona won the invite with a team score of 321. Waterford carded a 333 to finish 12 strokes back, and a stroke ahead of Lancaster.
Zack Nash was third overall, firing a 77 on the par-72 Palmer Course. He had a 40 on the front nine and a 37 on the back. Meet medalist was Lancaster’s Zach Hentrich with a 75.
Garrett Buri and Grant Beck each shot 84s. David Zahn finished off the team scoring with an 88.
Andrew Schultz was the fifth Wolverine teeing it up Monday and he fired a 90.
Falcon Invitational
Zahn was medalist at this invitational hosted by Westosha Central at Brighton Dale Links. Zahn shot a 75 on the par-72 Blue Spruce Course. He had a 42 on the front nine, but then a three-under par 33 on the back.
“David played exceptional on the back nine having three birdies,” head coach Mike Harmeling said.
Nash was third overall with a 78 (37-41) and Buri seventh with an 81 (42-39).
Rounding out the team score of 320 was Adam Dewane with an 86 (43-43).
The team score was 14 shots better than Big Foot, which finished in second.
“As a whole, it was a pretty good day for us,” Harmeling said.
