The Burlington High School baseball team split two Southern Lakes Conference games last week with rival Lake Geneva Badger.
The Demons beat Badger 8-4 April 30 at Badger and lost 5-1 April 28 at home.
Burlington (4-8, 2-5 SLC) lost 3-1 Monday in a non-conference game at Kenosha Bradford.
The Demons play Union Grove at 6 p.m. today in a SLC game at Beaumont Field. It is the team’s annual Fan Appreciation Night.
Coach Scott Staude said the Demons teamed up with United Way of Western Racine County and will raise funds for charity.
“The money will go to the United Way of Western Racine County and their programs they run,” Staude said.
Free hot dogs will be available. Raffles will take place, and prizes will also be awarded.
Bags of peanuts will also be on sale at the event, with proceeds going to United way.
The game against the Broncos is the Demons’ second in as many days. Burlington played non-conference foe Racine Park Wednesday at home.
With the rain Tuesday, BHS caught a break, as the scheduled game against Union Grove (7-4, 3-3 SLC) was postponed. Otherwise, the Demons would have been playing three consecutive days.
Against Bradford (6-2), the Red Devils broke a 1-1 with a run in the fifth inning, and scored again in the sixth.
Burlington committed three errors in a tight game that saw each team finish with just three hits.
The Demons jumped on Badger (6-5, 5-2 SLC) early in the 8-4 victory. Burlington scored four runs in the first inning and another two in both the fourth and sixth.
Bryan Sturdevant, Aaron Mutter and Austin Baker each finished with two hits. Sturdevant scored two runs.
Mutter pitched 5 1 /3 innings in relief of Sturdevant and finished with six strikeouts.
Badger scored four runs in the fourth inning and another in the fifth in the Demons’ April 28 loss.
