Track teams shine at invite

The Burlington High School boys and girls track and field teams each finished fifth out of 10 teams April 30 in the Racine County Invitational at Union Grove High School.

The girls outscored the boys 70 points to 57 points. Racine Park won the boys’ meet (150 points) and Racine Horlick won the girls’ meet (139).

The Demons play host Friday to the 11th annual Demon Invitational at Burlington High School. It is an invite for both boys and girls.

For the girls, Brittany Ehlen finished first in the pole vault (10 feet, 3 inches).

Leah Joslyn finished second in the wheelchair shot put (8-2.5) and 100-meter dash (33.96 seconds).

Meta Ehlen finished second in the 1,600 (5:32.45) and ran with Megan Wallace, Emma Fettig and Arden Peterson on Burlington’s second-place 4×400 relay (4:22.01).

Emily Ustianowski tied for second in the pole vault (7 feet) and Ehlen finished third in the high jump (4-10).

Peterson finished third in the triple jump (32-8.25). Molly Benavides finished fourth in the triple jump (31-8) and Wallace finished fourth in the long jump (15-8).

Lucas Schenkenberg led the boys with a first-place finish in the pole vault (12 feet). Nathaniel Sibley finished second in the 1,600 (4:37.45) and third in the 3,200 (10:22.06).

Greg Vogt finished third in the pole vault (10 feet). Tyler Bopp finished fourth in the triple jump (40-8).

Eric Viel, John Rosno, Isiah Brenner and Josh Insor finished fourth in the 4×200 relay (1:36.06) and Viel, Alek Gilbreath, Jackson Moody and Insor finished fourth in the 4×400 relay (3:41.97).
