The Burlington/Badger/Wilmot gymnastics team opened its season with a 141.200-137.575 win over Mukwonago/Kettle Moraine Dec. 1 at Karcher Middle School.
BBW had the highest team score on three of the four events, and won all of the individual events except bars – which was behind MKM as well.
“I was pretty happy with it,” said BBW coach Diane Biedrzycki. “I thought the kids handled themselves really well.
“The home environment could’ve been a little overwhelming,” she added. “I thought they handled themselves really well.”
Freshman Bailey Fitzpatrick won the balance beam (9.05) and the floor exercise (9.35), and finished second on bars (8.9) and third on vault (9.325).
The combined total gave her an all-around score of 36.625, which was the best of the meet.
Molly Benavides finished second in the all-around (35.6) and won vault with a 9.55. She was also third on the balance beam (8.8).
Michelle Dankle finished second on both the beam (8.925) and floor exercise (9.275) to round out BBW’s top-three finishes.
Rounding out the counting scores were Marlee Brunow on vault (8.6) and floor (8.65), Dankle on the uneven bars (8.25), Benavides on bars (8.2) and floor (9.05), Robynanne Scheuerman on vault (9.175) and Aubrey Weinhammer on balance beam (8.25).
On Tuesday, BBW downed Elkhorn 141.325 to 122.65.
Benavides won the vault (9.575) and balance beam (9.15), while Bailey Fitzpatrick won the floor (9.5) and Jenna Fitzpatrick the uneven bars (9.375).
Benavides scored a 36.55 to take the all-around as well.
