It wasn’t an easy way to finish the Southeast Conference regular season Monday.
The Burlington High School boys volleyball team – ranked No. 6 in the state – hosted SEC-undefeated Kenosha Tremper (ranked No. 5 in the state) and came away with a 22-25, 14-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-12 victory Monday night.
Burlington improved to 20-6 overall and finished 6-2 in the SEC. The SEC tournament is Saturday at Tremper starting at 8:30 a.m.
Not only was Burlington down two sets to nothing, BHS trailed 10-2 in the third game. When Coach Tim Gesteland called a timeout, setter Zach Gesteland suggested a lineup switch to a 6-2 (two setter) offense.
“Tremper had our number at that time,” the coach said. “It was just enough to change things.”
