The Burlington High School individual girl golfers struggled at the 13th Annual Brian Schroeder Memorial Monday, but the best ball and scramble pairing fared much better.
The event, played at Wanaki Golf Course in Menomonee Falls, features each team with two individual golfers, plus one best ball pair and one scramble pair.
As a team, the Demons finished tied for 12th with Brookfield Central with a score of 414. The Prairie School won the 20-team event with a 315.
Seniors Caroline Kerr and Tess Lavieri teamed up in the scramble format to card a 91, while senior Jenn Stevens and sophomore Ellen Stang paired up in the best ball for a 95.
Senior Sarah Eulgen and junior Jenny Seitz competed in the individual competition and carded a 105 and 123 respectively on the par-70 course.
The Demon girls finished fifth at the seven-team Westosha Central Invite held at Hawk’s View Golf Course Aug. 15.
Burlington carded a team score of 340 and was led by senior Tess Lavieri with an 81.
Union Grove won the event, setting a team record for the event with a 310. Westosha Central was second with a 320, Elkhorn third with a 325, and Waterford fourth with a 327.
Union Grove’s Paige Murdoch tied the event individual record set one year ago. She shot a 67.
Finishing second for the Demons was sophomore Ellen Stang with an 84. Sophomore Dannie Robers fired an 86 and senior Jen Stevens an 89 to finish out the team scoring. Senior Sarah Eulgen also competed, carding a 97.
