There wasn’t anything particularly special about Burlington High School’s boys basketball game at Westosha Central Tuesday night.

Except, of course, a 17-8 third quarter and a 57-46 win over the Falcons.

“It was an ugly win,” said BHS head coach Steve Berezowitz. “We did not play exceptionally well, but I thought we beat a decent team. I thought we had some different players who played some really good minutes for us.”

The Demons finished with four players in double figures, but Berezowitz also cited the play of Ty Dennis and Alex Oldenburg.

“Ty Dennis and Alex Oldenburg really gave us a boost in the third quarter,” the coach said. “That was a big part of what we did.

“They were both very active on both ends of the floor, played with the confidence level we needed.”

Dennis finished with eight points and eight rebounds.

“We had some balanced scoring,” Berezowitz said. “We had to move the ball around a little bit. They did a good job of taking Eric (Gerber) away.”

Gerber still finished with a game-high 16 points and nine rebounds, but Nick Reda added 12 and Carson Biedrzycki and Tim Peterson 10 points each. Peterson also added eight rebounds, while Reda had five assists and Gerber three.

The Demons led 39-28 after the third quarter, but played to an 18-18 draw in the fourth with the Falcons. Jason Castona led Westosha with 15 points, while Dalton Sjong added 10 and Mike Michelau eight.

“We have to play a little bit better fourth quarter, but our kids know that,” Berezowitz said. “It’s a tough Tuesday night game on the road, so we’ll take it.”

Burlington will play at home Friday night against Waterford at 7 p.m.
