It got a little tense at the end, but when all was said and done, the Burlington High School boys tennis team earned its first win of the season – 4-3 over Westosha Central Tuesday.
“Great win tonight,” head coach Ken Savaglia said. “Came down to Conor (Schultz) at 2 singles. Up 5-1 in third (set), but made it interesting before pulling out 6-4 win.”
Schultz won the first set 6-1, lost the second set 4-6, before getting the 6-4 third set win.
Other winners for the Demons were Caleb Hewitt at No. 4 singles (6-1, 6-4), and the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams.
At No. 2 doubles, Matt Traber and Alex Oldenburg won two close sets, 6-4, 7-5; while at No. 3 doubles, Colin Carville and Jon Martin won 6-0, 7-5.
