The Burlington High School Athletic Department will be inducting two former student athletes and one coach to the Wall of Fame on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 starting at 5:15.
The class of 2012 includes Jenny (Sliwa) Barry, Lyle Foulke, and Dr. Nick Webber.
Jennifer (Sliwa) Barry, class of 1988, participated in cross-country, track, and gymnastics during her high school career at Burlington High School. Jennifer was a Southern Lakes Conference champion multiple times during her time as an athlete at Burlington High School and was a two-time WIAA Regional champion and state qualifier in gymnastics.
Lyle Foulke was a longtime coach and math teacher at Burlington High School. His involvement with the boy’s basketball, boy’s track and field, and girl’s basketball teams spanned 27 years. From 1970 to 1979, he coached in a program that won the Southern Lakes Conference championship in seven of those years, including two years in which the team qualified for State. Lyle served as the Varsity boy’s track and field coach from 1970 to 1982, with his team winning the 1981 Southern Lakes Conference championship. From 1980 to 1997, Lyle served as the Varsity girl’s basketball coach. His teams won the Southern Lakes Conference championship in 1988 and 1991.
Nick Webber, class of 1996, participated in soccer, swimming, track and basketball during his high school career at Burlington High School. Nick was named to multiple All-Conference, All-County, and All-State teams and was an All-American in the pool while a student athlete at Burlington High School. Webber was a Conference, Regional, and Sectional Champion in the 800-meter run and still owns the school record in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.10. Nick currently specializes in orthopedic oncology and joint reconstruction at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee.
The cost of the induction/social is $15.00 per person and will include heavy appetizers and beverages from Gooseberries. This also includes entrance into the Burlington High School Boys basketball game against Southern Lakes Conference rival Wilmot at 7:00. Following the game, a short ceremony will take place in the gymnasium with a social to follow at the Gateway Technical College Burlington Center.
