The Burlington Combined boys swimming team turned in a dominant performance in a Southern Lakes Conference dual meet Jan. 30 against Jefferson/Cambridge at Jefferson High School.
The Demons won every event in the dual meet and finished 1-2-3 in several events and routed Jefferson/Cambridge 131-28.
Burlington Combined consists of Burlington, Burlington Catholic Central, East Troy, Union Grove and Waterford.
The victory against the Eagles occurred in the Demons’ final SLC dual meet of the season. Burlington finished 3-2-1 in conference dual meets.
The Demons also defeated Whitewater and Delavan-Darien, tied Elkhorn and lost to Lake Geneva and Platteville/Lancaster.
David Jones and Luke Herman each won three events for the Demons. Jones won the 100-yard freestyle in 53.71 seconds and Herman won the 100 backstroke in 1 minute, 6.21 seconds.
Jones and Herman swam on the Demons’ first place 200 medley relay with Andrew Brutlag and Bryce Filer (1:56.74) and on the Demons’ first-place 200 freestyle relay with Samuel Weingart and Brutlag (1:43.12).
Weingart won the 500 freestyle (6:21.42). Connor Krattiger won the 200 individual medley (2:27.43) and finished second in the 100 butterfly (1:08.46).
Burlington finished 1-2-3 in the 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.
The Demons competed Feb. 1 in the Racine Invitational at Park Invitational, where they finished 10th out of 12 teams in a strong field.
BC finished with 130 points. Racine Case won the invitational with 362 points. Other SLC teams in competition included Lake Geneva, which finished third (263), and Elkhorn, which finished eighth (154).
The Demons’ 400 relay posted the team’s highest finish in any event. Filer, Weingart, Herman and Jones finished sixth (3:42.89).
Herman finished seventh in the 200 individual medley (2:20.75) and eight in the 200 freestyle relay with Filer, Weingart and Jones.
Jones finished ninth in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.56) and Herman finished ninth in the 100 butterfly.
Jones placed 10th in the 500 freestyle (24.27) and Krattiger, Brutlag, Jacob Koehler and Andrew Kruse finished 10th in the 200 medley relay (1:58.09).
Up next for Burlington is the SLC meet Saturday at Delavan-Darien High School.
The Demons finished sixth at last season’s meet.
