The Burlington Co-op boys high school swimming team opened its Southern Lakes Conference dual meet season Dec. 9 at home with a 95-74 victory against Jefferson/Cambridge.
The win marked the first SLC dual meet victory with the Demons in first-year coach Chad Hinze’s career.
“The team had a few mistakes early, but we rallied strong and came through with a victory,” Hinze said. “I was very happy with how the boys swam and showed the versatility of the team.”
The Demons won nine of 11 varsity events.
Conner Krattiger won the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 11 seconds. Krattiger also won the 100 backstroke (1:09.91).
Bailey Bleser won the 200 individual medley (2:14.06) and 100 breaststroke (1:09.76) and Luke Herman won the 100 butterfly (1:00.41) and 500 freestyle (5:23.96).
Krattiger, Bleser, Bailey and Bryce Filer swam on the Demons’ first-place 200 freestyle relay (1:40.27).
Burlington Co-op’s Sam Weingart won the 50 freestyle (25.55).
Burlington Co-op consists of Burlington, Burlington Catholic Central, East Troy, Union Grove and Waterford. The Demons compete in a Southern Lakes Conference that consists of Lake Geneva Badger Co-op, Elkhorn, Delavan-Darien, Platteville/Lancaster, Jefferson/Cambridge and Whitewater.
Burlington Co-op swam Thursday in a non-conference dual meet at Hartford. The Demons next meet is a SLC dual meet against Badger Co-op and Platteville/Lancaster Jan. 6 at Badger.
