Bleser, Herman lead Burlington swimmers at Racine Case

The Burlington Co-op boys swimming team turned in a strong performance Jan. 31 at the Racine Invitational at Case High School.

The Demons finished seventh of 11 teams with 203 points. Host school Racine Case won the invitational with 412 points.

Janesville Parker finished second (344.5) and Lake Geneva Badger third (301). Ekhorn finished fourth (261), Racine Horlick fifth (228) and Kenosha Bradford sixth (205).

Racine Park came in eighth (107.5), Watertown ninth (103), Kenosha Indian Trail 10th (90) and West Allis 11th (49).

Bailey Bleser and Luke Herman turned in strong days, individually and as part of relay teams.

Bleser finished second in the 500-yard freestyle in 5 minutes, 11.77 seconds and in the 200 individual medley (2:11.58).

Herman finished third in the 200 freestyle in 1:58.81 and fifth in the 100 butterfly (1:00.45).

Herman, Bleser, Conner Krattiger and Bryce Filer finished fifth in the 200 medley relay (1:50.88) and Bleser, Krattiger, Sam Weingart and Herman finished fifth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:40.95).

Krattiger finished eighth in the 100 butterfly (1:03.38) and 10th in the 100 backstroke (1:06.33)

Bryce Filer, Weingart, Luke Piccione and Thomas Lestan finished fifth in the 200 freestyle relay (1:42.31).        Filer finished 10th in the 50 freestyle (24.62) and Weingart 11th (25.20).

Burlington lost 103-67 Jan. 27 at Whitewater in the team’s final Southern Lakes Conference dual meet of the season.

“Finishing the regular season, the swim team had some good personal bests and strong finishes in their races,” coach Chad Hinze said. “There are only tournaments left, which means that times need to keep dropping.”

Bleser won the 200 individual medley (2:12.22) for the Demons’ only event victory against the Whippets. Bleser finished second in the 100 backstroke (1:01.04).

Krattiger, Bleser, Herman and Filer finished second in the 200 medley relay (1:52.18).

Herman finished second in the 200 freestyle (1:56.28) and 100 butterfly (59.74), and Filer finished second in the 50 freestyle (24.30) and 500 freestyle (6:01.19). Krattiger finished second in the 100 freestyle (56.63).

Lestan, Sam Gaziorowski, Jacob Genal and Graeme Gross finished second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:53.88), and Herman, Krattiger, Filer and Bleser finished second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:41.57).

Burlington swims Saturday at UW-Platteville in the Southern Lakes Conference Swim Meet.
