The members of the Burlington Co-op girls high school swimming team will not be ending their season at Olive Garden in Janesville.
The team visits the restaurant each season on the way home from the state meet. The Demons competed in their final meet of the season Saturday in a WIAA Division 1 sectional meet at Kenosha Tremper High School.
No one from BC advanced from the sectional to the WIAA Division 1 State Girls Swimming & Diving Championships today and Saturday at University of Wisconsin Natatorium in Madison.
“We had a great meet, with everyone getting best times of the season,” coach Denita Jones said. “With the team being so young, it was a growing step forward for next season.
“Many of the girls out-performed their goals for the season, and it was great to finish on such a positive note.”
Burlington Co-op consists of swimmers from Burlington, Waterford, Union Grove, East Troy and Catholic Central high schools.
The winner of each event at each of six Division 1 sectional meets and the next 18 fastest individuals and relay teams, statewide, advanced from the sectional to the state meet.
Morgan Traughber finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.40 for the best finish of any BC swimmer. Jenna Hotvedt finished fifth (1:01.96).
Elise Piper, Olivia Piccione, Madison Traughber and Morgan Traugber finished fifth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:46.02), and bested their seed time by more than five seconds.
Madison Traughber finished fifth in the 100 freestyle (54.98) and 200 individual medley (2:15.46).
Hotvedt, Maddi Haas, Piper and Emma Langley finished seventh (1:58.92) in the 200 medley relay.
Morgan Traughber finished seventh in the 100 butterfly (1:01.96). Hotvedt finished seventh in the 500 freestyle (5:29.49).
Langley, Piccione, Madison Traughber and Morgan Traughber finished seventh in the 200 freestyle relay (1:44.56).
The Demons scored 197 points and finished sixth as a team. Badger Co-op won the sectional (341).
