Elizabeth Klein’s skills and accomplishments in track and field reached new heights this season.

After finishing in 13th place at the state meet last year, the Burlington Catholic Central sophomore leaped her way to third place in the high jump at the WIAA State Division Three Meet this year.

Klein competed at 9:30 a.m. on day one of the meet, Friday, June 2 at Veterans Memorial Stadium on the campus of UW-La Crosse.

Her jump of 5 feet, 2 inches secured third place and a medal.

“Her goal was to get on the podium for a medal, which she achieved,” said Head Coach Rick Koceja.

“Elizabeth was very consistent in her high jump approach the last four meets and worked diligently to improve,” said the coach.

He continued, “To finish fourth in the Sectional Meet and third in the State Meet was an awesome accomplishment.”

Klein, who also competes in soccer, volleyball and basketball in addition to track and field, is “a gifted student-athlete” who maintains an impressive grade-point average, said Coach Koceja.
