Two Facebook pages, YouTube site launched
By Mike Ramczyk
Sports Editor
It was a big year for Facebook, Twitter and videos here at the Burlington Standard Press.
On Jan. 11, we launched the Burlington Standard Press Facebook page. Through Dec. 23, it is up to 689 likes.
Then, new Sports Editor Mike Ramczyk, who joined the team Aug. 20, created the Standard Press Sports page, one dedicated entirely to western Racine County sports.
In only four months, the page is up to 410 likes and counting.
As for Twitter, Ramczyk, Editor-in-Chief Ed Nadolski and Editor Jennifer Eisenbart have been bringing you, the readers, up-to-the-second updates on all the big stories, local sports and just about anything you need to know in 2013.
As a staff, we’re up to 1,331 followers, and that number will only increase with the ever-expanding amount of people joining Twitter.
Last week, I taught a 74-year-old Burlington man how to tweet, so it’s another example of social media’s strong reach.
Here’s a look at the best web numbers in 2013 from our various social media sites, including a new online TV channel started by Ramczyk and a friend called Southeast Wisconsin Preps Report.
Last but not least, the Sports Check blog was started in September. Inspired by Mike’s Blog, which originated on www.lakegenevanews.net, it explores the opinions and analysis of Sports Editor Mike Ramczyk with facts, figures, a little bit of comedy, and just about anything you can think of. Check it out!
