WILMOT – The Wilmot varsity boys basketball team will honor former standout Greg Bush during a halftime ceremony Friday, Feb. 14.
Bush’s school-record 41 points in a single game was broken by current Wilmot senior Brandon Schattner against Burlington Friday, Jan. 17. Schattner scored 45 points, including five 3-pointers and eight of nine free throws, in a 75-71 loss to the Demons.
The previous record was set by Bush on Feb. 3, 1961, against Elkhorn. Bush later went on to attend DePaul University on a basketball scholarship, where he played for legendary coach Ray Meyer. Bush, a four-sport standout at Wilmot, was the Southern Lakes Conference MVP in both football and basketball as a senior.
Bush is the long-time owner of Champs Sports Bar and Grill, Lake Geneva.
Wilmot Athletic Director Jerry Christiansen will introduce Bush to the crowd and make a presentation on behalf of the school Feb. 14, followed by a few comments from Bush. The boys game that night will immediately follow the varsity girls game against Burlington, which begins at 6 p.m.
