The Union Grove boys basketball team is rolling along in conference play.
That didn’t change Tuesday night, even as the Broncos squared off with fellow Southern Lakes Conference undefeated Waterford.
Union Grove held an eight-point lead at the half, saw it shrink to five after three – and then pulled away in the fourth quarter to down the Wolverines 59-47.
Alex Hale had nine of his game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter, and hit four 3-pointers in the contest.
Grant Beck went 3-for-3 at the line in the fourth, and added 10 points, while Jacob Fink pitched in 12 points.
The Broncos dominated the entire game at Elkhorn Friday night for a 56-45 victory.
With the win, Union Grove improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference.
Three Broncos scored in double figures, led by Andrew Kazikowski’s 14.
Grant Beck added 11 points, and Alex Hale had 10.
Beck led the Broncos with six rebounds.
Union Grove jumped out to a 26-14 halftime lead and never looked back. Although the Elks got back into the game with a 17-11 third quarter, Union Grove pulled away with a 19-14 fourth period.
Arik Anderson, Elkhorn’s leading scorer, was taken out of the game and only finished with nine points. Union Grove coach Dave Petit had a game plan to shut down Anderson coming in.
Aaron Wales paced Elkhorn with 18 points, but it wasn’t enough.
