These guys can straight up mash.
Not mash as in mashed potatoes, but mash as in hitting the baseball so hard with a bat that it mashes or dents.
That’s the kind of juggernaut the Union Grove baseball team is this year.
The Broncos kept it rolling with 10 hits in a 7-5 victory over second-seeded Muskego Monday evening in a WIAA Division 1 sectional final at Kenosha Bradford High School. The Broncos defeated Burlington 13-2 in five innings earlier Monday in the semifinal round.
Now, two years after finishing as state runner-up in Division 2, the Broncos are heading back to exact revenge and win it all in Division 1.
The third-seeded Broncos battle sixth-seeded Eau Claire Memorial at Herr-Baker Stadium in Fond du Lac at approximately 4:30 p.m. Friday.
If Grove can win its quarterfinal, the Broncos will move on to play at Neurosciences Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute, home to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in a Monday semifinal.
