The Waterford Union High School girls track & field team finished fourth, and the boys finished sixth, May 22 in a WIAA Division 1 regional meet at Waterford.
The Wolverines competed in a sectional meet at Mukwonago High School.
The first four finishers in each event at the regional meet qualify for the sectional. The first three finishers in each event at each sectional, along with individuals and relay teams whose performances in sectionals rank among the eight best of all sectional performances, including the first three sectional finishers, qualify for state.
The Division 1 State Track & Field Meet is June 2 & 3 at Veterans Memorial Stadium in LaCrosse.
“The girls did a great job,” coach Michele Sittig said. “It’s nice to see multiple sectional qualifiers across different event groups. It’s definitely a competitive regional, so to qualify as many as we did is exciting.”
Haleigh Reindl won the 800-meter run in 2:15.70.
Priscilla Gasiorowski finished second in the high jump (5-0) and Olivia Busch finished second in the triple jump (33-4.75).
Melina Behl, Lauren Muffick, Emma Karpinski and Maddie Bartol finished second in the 4×100 relay (52.16), and Jayda Obluck, Reindl, Shaelyn Mullins and Katelyn Puetz finished second in the 4×800 relay (10:05.69).
Miranda Meyers finished third in the high jump and Emily Nicholls finished fourth in the 100 hurdles (16.84).
“The boys track team had some great performances,” coach Jody Johnsrud said. “There were a number of other events in which our athletes set personal records or had performances that were close to their records.”
Josh Butscher won the 1,600 (4:40.44) and Sean Pritchard won the 400 (51.44). Jack Duerst finished second in the 1,600 (4:42.04) and Sam Krebsbach finished fourth in the 400 (54.41).
Krebsbach, Adam Schubring, Duerst and Butscher finished fourth in the 4×800 relay (8:18.29).
The Waterford girls scored 88.5 points. Muskego won the regional (187.5). Mukwonago won the boys regional (191.5). Waterford scored 59.5 points.
