Sean Pritchard and Haleigh Reindl each qualified in two events and lead a contingent of 10 Wolverines to the WIAA Division 1 State Track & Field Championships.

The state meet is today and Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium on the campus of UW-La Crosse.

The Wolverines qualified for state out of a sectional meet May 25 at Mukwonago High School.

Reindl won the 800-meter run in 2:14.61 and ran with Jayda Obluck, Shaelyn Mullins and Katelyn Puetz on Waterford’s third-place 4×800 relay (9:51.98).

Olivia Busch finished second in the triple jump with an effort of 35 feet, one-half inch.

Coach Michele Sittig said the 4×800 relay has cut more than 35 seconds off its time in the last two weeks. Reindl’s run in the 800 is also a personal best, and Busch’s effort in the triple jump is a personal best by more than half a foot.

“Our coaching staff could not be more thrilled,” Sittig said. “Competing at the state meet is truly an awe-inspiring experience, and we cannot wait to see what these ladies are capable of.”

Pritchard finished second in the 400 in 50.12 seconds, and ran with Sam Krebsbach, Josh Butscher and Jack Duerst on Waterford’s second-place 4×800 relay (8:02.98).

Coach Jody Johnsrud said the relay ran 15 seconds faster than at the regional meet and 42 seconds faster than any other combination the Wolverines tried in that relay. Pritchard’s effort in the 800 is also a personal best.

“Throughout the season, the distance and mid-distance runners have been the strength of the boys team,” Johnsrud said. “They showed why this is the case with these performances.”
