Waterford scored three goals in the second half and beat Union Grove 4-1 Tuesday in a Southern Lakes Conference girls soccer match at Union Grove.

Taylor Gordon scored twice in the second half against Grove, and assisted on another goal.

Gordon scored on a penalty kick with 57 minutes elapsed and off an assist from Megan Cornell in the 69th minute.

Cornell scored off an assist from Gordon in the 86th minute.

“We were the more physical team in the midfield,” Waterford coach Joe Vogt said. “Gigi Kuepper, Megan Cornell and Taylor Gordon controlled the middle of the field.”

The Wolverines improved to 7-0-1 overall and 5-0 in Southern Lakes Conference play with the win against Union Grove.

Kuepper scored Waterford’s first goal when she floated a ball over the head of the Grove goalkeeper from 30 yards out.

The Broncos answered with a goal early in the second half and tied the score 1-1 before Waterford rallied.

Vogt said the win marks the first time the Wolverines beat Grove (5-1, 3-1 SLC) since 2015.

The Wolverines defeated Elkhorn 2-1 May 14 at Elkhorn and beat Wilmot 11-1 May 11 in SLC matches.
