Taylor Gordon scored seven goals and led the Waterford girls soccer team to an 8-3 Southern Lakes Conference victory over Burlington April 12 at home.
Gordon scored three goals in the first half and powered Waterford to a 4-2 halftime lead over the Demons (2-2, 0-2 SLC).
“Both teams scored goals in the first five minutes of the game,” Waterford coach Joe Vogt said. “We had some issues on defense that we need to figure out as the season progresses.”
Vogt said Megan Cornell played well in her box-to-box midfield role, and praised her for her defensive effort against the Demons’ Aleah Reesman.
Natalie Malkowski finished with a goal. Cornell added two assists and Paige Strasser one for the Wolverines. Goalkeeper Cora Beckley tallied seven saves.
The Wolverines (2-0-1, 1-0-1 SLC) played a non-conference match Thursday at Case High School in Racine before returning to league competition on April 19 at Wilmot.
