Joyce C. (Spencer) Klinghagen, 86, Union Grove, died Nov. 5, 2011, in the presence of her loving family at Kenosha Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 28, 1925, in Kenosha, to the late William and Emily (Dielman) Spencer. She graduated from Union Grove High School and was proud to have served as the school “bell” by playing the piano in between classes.
She married Stanley Klinghagen on Aug. 17, 1946, at the Union Grove United Methodist Church. Together they raised two children and spent 45 wonderful years together until he passed away in 1991. They spent many summer weekends up North with their children at Pine Lake and attended the Wild Rose Methodist Church.
She had several careers in her life including working at the ASCS office for a number of years and working for Bardon Rubber and American Motors. She was best known for working for 50 years at The Hair Shoppe (Gergens Beauty Shop) where she was manager for 30 years. She was proud to be one of the founding members of the Union Grove Food Bank where she volunteered for 25 years. She was an active member of the Union Grove United Methodist Church, singing in the choir and playing piano for church services and working on several committees and fundraisers.
Survivors include her children, Trudy (Paul) Yutka and Rick (Deborah) Klinghagen; grandchildren, Chad Yutka (Jenny Vite) and Brett (Laurie) Yutka; great-grandchildren, Rocco and Bo Yutka; her sister-in-law, Margaret (Bill) Brandt and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was further preceded in death by her siblings, Harvey (Betty) Spencer and Earl (Rose) Spencer.
Visitation will be held at the Union Grove United Methodist Church on Thursday, Nov. 10 from noon until 2 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., with burial at the Union Grove Memorial Cemetery immediately following. Miller-Reesman Funeral Home, Union Grove, is serving the family.
