Carol E. Berberich Krueger, 97, Burlington, died Jan. 17, 2015, at Burlington Health & Rehab Center.
She was born in Chicago on Aug. 4, 1917, to the late Arthur and Hattie (Kleeman) Bunge. Following high school she worked as a secretary for a Chicago law firm.
On Jan. 1, 1938, in Chicago, she married Edward Berberich, who preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 1957.
Many fun summers were spent at the Berberich cottage in Cedar Park Subdivision from 1940 on, and still is part of the family to this day.
On Aug. 1, 1959, she married Norman D. Krueger. Following marriage they made their home in Burlington. He preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 2006.
She was a homemaker, and after permanently moving to Burlington, was employed at Spurgeons until they closed. Carol had many loves with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren being the most special. She loved bowling with the Burlington Senior Citizens League.
Survivors include her children, Edward (Beverly) Berberich and Carol Watson; grandchildren, Larry (Debbie) Watson Jr., Mary (Michael) Salmon, Joan Watson and Scott (Allyson) Berberich; great-grandchildren, Jaclyn Salmon, Nicholas and Mathew Bleiler, Katie Watson, Zella and Clara Berberich.
She was further preceded in death by her husbands, Edward Berberich and Norman Krueger; son-in-law, Larry Watson; sister, Lucille Hume; brother-in-law, John Hume; and nephew, John Hume Jr.
Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.
Private services were held. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, served the family.
