A Baltimore oriole feeds on an orange slice in the backyard of a Burlington home May 17. The species, which spends its winters in Mexico and the tropics, has returned to the northern states and Canada to raise a new generation of orioles. While the males are known for their bright orange color, the females are famous for the distinctive sling nests they build to incubate their eggs. (Photo by Jacqueline Nadolski)
We are fortunate enough to have both Baltimore and Orchard Orioles in our yard. Oranges are out as well as grape jelly! Hummingbirds have arrived as well! Happy Birding!
