Members of a local Civil War re-enactment group stand guard as the Lincoln Statue is reinstalled Sunday. In spite of the snow and cold weather, about 150 people came out to see the statue put back in its rightful place after it was pulled down in an act of vandalism about two weeks ago. Welcome back Abe. ?
Seems like a lot of fluff to help the mayor with his re election bid. I am glad to see the statue back up again, but did we really need the three ring circus to go with it?????
This had nothing to do with an election year. This had everything to do with the community members that make this City great. I have no doubt that the reaction and swift rectification of this vandalism would have been the same regardless of election year or who sits in that seat. Both candidates were in support of this as they should be seeing as they are both long time residents of Burlington and share the same pride in our City’s history. What you see as a three ring circus, the majority of us see as a sense of solidarity in what’s important to us as community. Our history, our sense of pride in our community, and our lack of tolerance for senseless acts against it.
